This unspoiled location has plenty to offer, including wild beaches, sweeping coastal views and peaceful streams. The park is also a regional favourite for mountain bike adventures and is also home to a large population of koalas.
Pack a hamper, switch off technology and spend the day at the picnic area fitted with BBQ, shelters and toilet facilities. Enjoy a range of activities such as fishing and kayaking on Bonville Creek, as well as bird watching. You may be lucky enough to spot one of the many koalas that live in this area.
The National Park is also a great place for bushwalking. Access the following scenic trails in the Tuckers Rock area via Perry’s, and Tuckers Rock Roads.
Buff Loop Walking Track is an easy grade 2, 2km loop that takes you through dense jungle of vines, plams and rainforest and behind the sand dunes lining Bongil Beach to a lookout overlooking Bundageree Creek.
Bundagaree Rainforest Walk is a easy grade 3, 6km loop that leaves the rainforest at the rocky shoreline of Bundagaree Creek, a place to explore rock pools and simply enjoying the view.
Boambee Reserve
Boambee Creek Reserve, at the southern end of Boambee beach, (access via Sawtell Road), is a popular area for locals with younger children. The reserve offers crystal clear shallow water for smaller children and playground facilities. It is perfect for picnics as there are barbeques, shelters and takeaway food. The reserve also has beach showers and toilet facilities. The reserve charges a nominal fee for car parking in the reserve. There is also a pedestrian bridge under the rail bridge which provides keen fishermen and walkers access to the southern end of Boambee beach. Boambee Headland is also the perfect location for whale watching during winter and spring.
Lyle Rose Memorial Park
Situated on Fourth Avenue near the Surf Club, Lyle Rose Memorial Park has picnic table facilities and is close to the facilities offered by the Surf Club and is in close proximity to the First Avenue Shops.
Boronia Park
One of Sawtell’s most popular barbeque and picnic spots. It features undercover Electric Barbeques, toilet facilities, picnic tables and chairs, children’s playground and plenty of parking. It is in close proximity to Bonville Creek; a popular swimming and fishing spot.
First Avenue Main Street
First Avenue shops is also a very popular spot for relaxing with a picnic. The main street boasts a wide dividing medium strip planted out with the historic gardens and fig trees. There are large grassed areas to sit and bask in the sunlight and also picnic tables where you can enjoy something from one of the fabulous eateries. The main street is a popular boutique shopping strip that still maintains its village atmosphere.
